After loosing our land just over a year ago, we spread over 5 sites, this meant our small band of volunteers instead of sharing chores in one location, had to do the same chores 5 times. This has been challenging to organise around our jobs and family life.
Financially our accounts are depleted with no fundraising during covid and now lack of time it's meant we are truly struggling.
Sadly for the first time Ever we have had to close the doors for the winter, not because of space which is usual, but because of money, we still have usually 10 horses in our care at any one time, these need hay and feed over the winter on top of the usual rent, vet, farrier and specialist costs.
But let's end this appeal with a positive I am the luckiest person alive to have such an amazing team of people behind me, and Hoofbeats continues because of them.
We may not have 40 plus horses in at any one time these days, but we still have over 200 horses out on loan and we will keep our promise to them, that we will be responsible for them forever, and if they need to come back for what ever reason they will, and will stay until they find there new forever loan home, however long that takes.
We know things are hard for everyone and we never put appeals up unless we need help, so if you can spare a few pounds it truly would be very welcomed, no matter how much.
We truly thank you for your support
Founder Sharon and team Hoofbeats ❤️
Hoofbeats is run entirely by a small team of regular and part-time volunteers, all dedicated to the rehabilitation of our horses. Everyone is here because they love horses and work entirely voluntarily, meaning no-one is paid. You can be rest assured that all monies raised and/or donated goes directly where it is needed…horse welfare .
Our Founder Sharon Vieira took in her first unwanted horse when she was just 19 years old. As her endeavours grew, Sharon formed Hoofbeats in 2000 which later became a registered charity in December 2009. Passionate about tailoring a horse's rehabilitation to each individual horse, we use a range of retraining methods at Hoofbeats.
We offer a sanctuary for the recovery, retraining and rehoming of horses & ponies, who live as naturally as possible in mixed herds. Our primary aim is to permanently re-home our equines to approved and monitored permanent loan homes (usually in the South West area), taking the time it takes to find the perfect match.
Any donation large or small is always gratefully received. We rely on your support and every penny makes a difference and will be spent on the horses and ponies in our care.
