"The Start of New Beginnings"

Welcome to Hoofbeats Equine Rehabilitation Sanctuary.
Where every hoof print tells a story, and every horse finds hope.
At Hoofbeats ER Sanctuary, we believe in second chances and lifelong care. Each horse that joins our sanctuary is treated as a unique individual, with their own needs, personality, and journey. We take the time to truly understand them—offering compassion, rehabilitation, and support as they heal and grow.
Once they’re ready, we carefully match them with loving, pre-approved forever homes through our adoption or lifelong loan program. But our commitment never ends there. Our horses remain under our watchful eye, ensuring they continue to thrive in a safe, nurturing environment for the rest of their lives.
We never sell our horses—because to us, they are family.

🌿 Help Us Say Goodbye to Tamerton Yard 🌿
It is with heavy hearts that we share some news about Tamerton Yard, the beautiful land that has served as our peaceful retirement yard — a sanctuary for our beloved animals and a place filled with care, love, and purpose.
This precious space was so generously donated for our use free of charge, and we’ve been incredibly lucky to call it home. Lovingly managed by Ben and Courtney, Tamerton Yard has been more than just land — it’s been a place of peace, recovery, and joy.
Unfortunately, the land is now up for sale, and this means we will soon have to say goodbye to a place that has given so much to so many.
We are devastated, but also grateful — for the years we had here, for the animals we've cared for, and for the community that has supported us along the way. We’re doing everything we can to ensure a smooth transition, and we will keep everyone updated on what comes next.

After losing our main yard of over 10 years, we faced an uncertain future. But thanks to the incredible generosity of the team at Tin Park, we were offered a new home—and what a fantastic home it is.
Nestled behind Tin Park Livery in beautiful Cornwood, our new base includes a spacious barn, secure paddocks, and access to outdoor schools—making the rehabilitation of our horses and ponies more effective and enjoyable. The regular passing of farm machinery and lorries has also proven to be a valuable part of our horses’ desensitisation training, helping them grow in confidence around heavy vehicles.
We’re incredibly grateful to Billy, whose ongoing support and kindness have been instrumental in helping us settle in and continue our work. Tin Park has become more than just a yard—it’s a true community.
Of course, none of this would be possible without our dedicated volunteers: Sam, Gabbie, Billie, Laura, Charlotte, Amber and Dan. These amazing individuals run the yard alongside their full-time jobs, pouring in their time, energy, and love to keep Hoofbeats going strong

🌿 Welcome to Woodfield – A Dream in the Making 🌿
in January 2025, we were asked to take in 10 ponies in need, and with them came a rare and beautiful opportunity: 10 acres of moorland grazing, complete with stables and a stretch of magical woodland – all at a price we couldn’t say no to. and just a few minutes from Tin Park, It felt like fate.
The land came with its own challenges – lots of dead trees, a scrap caravan, and plenty of rubbish to clear – but underneath it all, we saw the future we’ve dreamed of for years: a sanctuary built on natural horse care and harmony with the land.
At Woodfield, we are creating a track system – a space where our horses and ponies live as close to the wild as possible. Instead of standing idle in a flat field, they will roam winding paths, climb gentle hills, cross uneven ground, and forage in varied terrain – all designed to keep them mentally engaged and physically strong.
This is just the beginning.
We’re slowly transforming Woodfield into a haven – not just for horses, but for nature and community too. There’s a long way to go, but every step forward is one closer to our dream. We can’t wait to share our journey with you, and if you’d like to be part of it – whether through support, visits, or simply following along – passionate volunteers, Becky and Sharon, welcome you with open arms.

Welcome to The Farmyard Café – Wotter’s Hidden Gem!
Nestled on the edge of Dartmoor, The Farmyard Café in Wotter is more than just a café – it’s the heart of a community and a sanctuary for animals in need. Owned by our founder Sharon and her ever-supportive (if occasionally reluctant!) husband Steve, the café is the charity’s biggest supporter, helping fund and facilitate life-changing animal care.
When you visit, don’t be surprised to see ponies from Hoofbeats on-site – whether they’re stopping by for a bit of handling or receiving medical care, they’re part of the family here. And it’s not just ponies – the cafe has become a forever home for rescued chickens, goats, and pigs who’ve found peace and love in their new surroundings. Kids and adults alike adore feeding the chickens and watching the antics of the pigs and goats.
Whether you're popping in for a hearty breakfast, a freshly prepared lunch, or a delicious slice of homemade cake and a cuppa, a warm welcome always awaits you. The food is as wholesome as the atmosphere – locally sourced, freshly prepared, and absolutely delicious.
So come and experience The Farmyard Cafe – where great food meets good causes, and every visit helps make a difference.
